Apple Dapple Cake is a moist, tender, and warmly spiced cake packed with fresh apple chunks and topped with a luscious caramel glaze.   • 3 cups apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)
  • For Caramel Glaze:
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix oil, eggs, and vanilla. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until well incorporated.
  • Fold in the chopped apples and nuts if using.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • For the Caramel Glaze: In a saucepan, melt butter, add milk and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  • Pour the glaze over the warm cake and allow it to cool before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, use a mix of tart and sweet apples like Granny Smith and Fuji.
  • Optional toppings include a sprinkle of sea salt on the caramel glaze.
