  • For the Peanut Butter Cream:
    • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
    • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • For the Banana Layer:
    • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • For the Whipped Cream Topping:
    • 2 cups heavy cream
    • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For Garnishing:
    • Chocolate shavings
    • Crushed peanuts
    • Peanut butter cups (optional)

Instructions

  • Bake the Chocolate Cake:
    • Prepare the chocolate cake according to the package directions for a 9x13-inch cake. Let it cool completely, then cut into cubes.
  • Make the Peanut Butter Cream:
    • In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, peanut butter, and powdered sugar until smooth.
    • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then gently fold it into the peanut butter mixture until combined. Set aside.
  • Make the Whipped Cream Topping:
    • In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Set aside.
  • Assemble the Trifle:
    • In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer half of the chocolate cake cubes on the bottom.
    • Spread half of the peanut butter cream over the cake, followed by a layer of sliced bananas.
    • Add a layer of whipped cream.
    • Repeat the layers: chocolate cake, peanut butter cream, bananas, and whipped cream.
  • Garnish and Chill:
    • Top the trifle with chocolate shavings, crushed peanuts, and optional peanut butter cups for added flavor and decoration.
    • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a quicker option, use store-bought chocolate cake or brownie bites.
  • To prevent bananas from browning, you can lightly coat the slices in lemon juice before layering.
  • This trifle can be made a day ahead—just cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
