Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large chicken breasts, sliced into strips
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice, for serving

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced chicken breasts and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and cooked through, then remove from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add chopped onions and sauté until translucent. Add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms are tender.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture, stirring to coat evenly. Cook for 1-2 minutes, then gradually whisk in the chicken broth, making sure there are no lumps.
  • Let the sauce simmer and thicken. Stir in sour cream and Worcestershire sauce, then return the cooked chicken to the skillet.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes, adjusting salt and pepper as needed. Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine before adding the chicken broth.
  • Use Greek yogurt as a healthier alternative to sour cream.
  • Make sure not to boil the sauce after adding the sour cream to prevent curdling.
