Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic.
  • In another bowl, dissolve cornstarch in 2 tbsp water and set aside.

  • Pour in the teriyaki sauce mixture and stir well. Add 1/2 cup water and bring to a simmer.
  • Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  • Serve hot over rice or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • Use flank or sirloin steak for the best texture.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey.
  • For extra flavor, marinate beef in teriyaki sauce for 15 minutes before cooking.
