This Ground Beef Grilled Cheese Sandwich recipe features seasoned ground beef and melted cheese, sandwiched between golden, buttery bread. It’s a quick and hearty meal, perfect for lunch or dinner. Customize it with your favorite toppings like onions, pickles, or mustard for added flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • 8 slices bread (white, sourdough, or rye)
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • Optional toppings: pickles, mustard, ketchup, sautéed onions

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion (if using) for 5-7 minutes, until the beef is browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat. Season with garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
  2. Assemble the sandwiches:
Butter one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side of four slices, layer a slice of cheese, a spoonful of the cooked ground beef mixture, and another slice of cheese. Top with another slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
  3. Cook the sandwiches:
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  4. Serve hot:
Slice and serve immediately with your favorite sides like fries or a simple salad. Optionally, add pickles, mustard, or ketchup for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Customize the sandwich by adding sautéed mushrooms, jalapeños, or bacon.
  • Use different types of cheese, like mozzarella or provolone, for a flavor variation.
