This Homemade Krispy Kremes recipe gives you light, airy, and perfectly glazed doughnuts just like the ones from Krispy Kreme! With a soft texture and a sweet, shiny glaze, these homemade treats are perfect for breakfast or dessert.

  • For the Doughnuts:

    • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
    • ½ cup warm water (110°F)
    • ¼ cup granulated sugar
    • ½ cup whole milk, warmed
    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 egg
    • ½ tsp salt
    • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • Oil for frying

    For the Glaze:

    • 2 cups powdered sugar
    • ¼ cup whole milk
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract

     

Instructions

  • In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add sugar, milk, melted butter, egg, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  • Roll dough to ½-inch thickness and cut out doughnuts. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry doughnuts for 1-2 minutes per side until golden.
  • Drain on a paper towel.
  • Whisk glaze ingredients together and dip warm doughnuts in the glaze.
  • Let the glaze set and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is at the right temperature for best results.
  • Dough can be prepared in advance and refrigerated overnight.
  • Double glaze for extra sweetness!
