This Quick and Easy Chili recipe is perfect for busy weeknights, featuring ground beef, beans, and a flavorful tomato-based sauce. Made in just 30 minutes on the stovetop, it's a comforting and hearty dish that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup water or beef broth (optional, for consistency)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the ground beef:
In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Add onions and garlic:
Add the diced onions and minced garlic to the pot. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onions are softened and fragrant.
  • Season and add tomatoes:
Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and drained beans. Mix well.
  • Simmer the chili:
Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the chili is too thick, add 1/2 cup water or beef broth to adjust the consistency.
  • Serve hot:
Serve the chili hot, topped with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For added heat, include 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
