Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.

  5. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
