1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 egg
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
2 cups beef broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp soy sauce
Instructions
In a bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and shape into 1-inch meatballs.
Heat butter in a skillet and cook the meatballs in batches until browned. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, add butter and flour, whisking to form a roux. Gradually add beef broth, whisking constantly.
Stir in heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and soy sauce. Simmer until the gravy thickens.
Add the meatballs back to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes. Serve hot over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
Notes
For extra flavor, use a mix of ground beef and ground pork.
Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce for depth in the gravy.
Serve with lingonberry jam for a traditional Swedish pairing.
